Hello Darlings!! This is my first DIY post and I am glad to be sharing this with you! As you all may know, pom pom accessories are back in style and so darn cute! I have come across many beautiful tote bags with pom poms and tassels, but I’m not so thrilled about the price I have to pay for the beach/picnic bag. So after encountering the materials I figured, heck I’ll do it myself and save some bucks!
Total cost for my DIY Pom Pom Tote Bag a whooping $16.00!
Tote bag: Burlington $12.99 (I found different options of tote bag near the luggage dept.) Online cost is $16.99
Pom Poms: $3.00
I found these at the Target Dollar spot. They are called “Pom pom banner”.
Card: Find something sturdy at the length you want to tie the yarn around. I just used a card I already had at home.
Materials I already owned: $0
Fold the pom pom banner in half and cut it. You won’t need the whole thing. If are personalizing your pom pom make sure to cut the string long enough to go through all the pom poms you are going to add on your string. Also leave space at the end to tie to your bag. Once you have done that you can now tie the end of your pom pom string/rope to the bag handle.
If you don’t want the string to show than just simply twist the pom poms until the string no longer shows.
Create the tassel. Once again you can create whatever size you would like. The following steps are pictured above.
Tie the burlap rope (your tassel) to the pom pom string wherever you would like. I tied mine after the the second pom pom.
I finished my project in less than 15 minutes and I also saved lots of money by doing it myself. I hope you guys enjoyed my first DIY project, don’t forget to comment below and let me know what you all think!! Sweet, short and simple!
