Finally, we had the chance to get the family all together at one place. Since being engaged, Michael and I have been extremely busy with our own in-season sports, work and personal tasks. Both Michael and I had our younger siblings away from college so as soon as they came home for the summer we took the opportunity to bring our families together. I know people usually tend to celebrate their engagement and have their engagement party shortly after their engagement, but it was important for both of our families to be present and celebrate our upcoming journey together.
We decided to do something small for our engagement party, therefore our parents, his brothers and my sisters had dinner at Don Pepe’s Restaurant. I had been looking for the perfect little white dress to wear that night and luckily a clothing company called Tobi had contacted me for a collaboration and I found this little white dress on their site. I hadn’t seen this type of style so when I saw this white dress I had to order it! It fit perfectly well and it came in just one time to wear for our small engagement party! Our family had a great time sharing embarrassing past stories and talking about our future. Michael and I feel so incredibly blessed to have such a supportive and loving family.
During this past several months we have been able to get a few things done for our wedding and we are excited to announce that we will be getting married on June of 2018. I can’t believe it’s going to be about a year from now and I know it’s going to go by fast so we are just trying to enjoy this moment!
After getting engaged most people kept telling Michael and I “Oh, Congratulations, now let the stress begin,” but so far we haven’t felt stressed out over our wedding plans. I have found planning for our wedding quite exciting! Now, I know I haven’t hit the major peek of our wedding plans, but I’m hoping that by planning things out at a reasonable time frame, it will continue to help our wedding plans be an enjoyable experience. I would also like to add some advice for all my recent engaged couples, don’t let other people’s personal wedding experiences freak you out. I know that most mean well, but sometimes they tend to put a lot of stress on couples who are planning a wedding. This is the time that you and your fiancé should be experiencing the whole cloud nine feeling! Just know that everyone has their own opinion on weddings and what matters most is what YOU want to experience during your wedding planning stage and wedding.
Church
The first thing Michael and I did was reserve our date with the Church. I love that we both agree that Christ will be the center of our marriage and family. To be united in the house of God and in front of our loved ones is ultimately the most important thing for us.
Venue
Finding a venue was a tough decision for us to make, but it wasn’t stressful. It took a lot of patience and searching around our area to find a venue that I think is simple, yet elegant. I am not into whole ballroom venue for my wedding (although I find them very beautiful), so it was hard to find a venue since most venues in the Valley are ballroom. Now keep in mind, everyone has their own vision on what type of wedding they want so what you think might not be the same as what others think and that’s perfectly fine. Every couple envisions their wedding through their perspective. The guests are simply invited to celebrate a couple’s wedding not through their own perspective, but through the perspective of the wedding couple. My advice for couples is find a place that aligns to your vision, not your guests. Everyone will have their own opinion, but again it’s not about them, it’s about you two and what YOU want. Michael and I decided to host our reception at the Valencia Event Center. What I liked about this place was that it has the capability, and I say capability because it has hosted several beautiful occasions, to be aligned and personalized to our wedding envision. The major hook for me was the fact that they are allowing us to personalize our wedding and I think that most venues forget that every couple has a different vision. Make sure to ask a ton of questions before booking your venue! If you are interested about some of my questions and concerns I asked venues, let me know by commenting below.
Videographer
Attending a local wedding expo was a HUGE help when it came down to selecting our Videographer & Photographer. At first we were stunned with how much it cost to cover a wedding. Michael and I were almost close to saying nah let’s get whoever and spend that money on something else, but I also reminded myself that these are memories I plan to keep forever and finding a videographer and photographer to bring that moment to life was something we wanted at an affordable price. We got in contact with a lot of people who offered packages during that expo, but I just kept searching for quality work at reasonable prices. One random day I opened my email that I hadn’t seen since the week after the wedding expo and I got an email that stood out. Memories is Motion. I had heard of their work before, because a friend had recommended them, but I didn’t look into it at that time. Later that night I opened my email and viewed their videos and I literally got so emotional ( I know, I know, how typical), but I knew at that moment that I loved their work. After viewing and discussing his work we decided to book Memories in Motion for our wedding videography. Orlando was quick to respond to my emails and questions and he genuinely asked questions about Michael and I and he even took the time to read our proposal blog. That itself tells me that he’s a genuine person that likes to build synergistic relationships with his clients and that is an important trait to have with people who you plan to work with to cover such an intimate part of your life.
Photographer
Once I knew I wanted to work with Memories in Motion I asked Orlando for some photographer recommendation’s and he gave me a few. What I liked about Juan Morin Photography was that he had great quality work, use’s natural lighting with very little Photoshop (on wedding day pictures) and was reasonably affordable. Juan has a great sense of humor and I look forward to working with him.
Little White Dress
I had been searching for a lace white dress, but of course I wanted something different from your usual white lace dress (which is also beautiful) so I’m glad that I ran across the Tobi company. They had a lot of items I haven’t seen out there which made it fun to shop because it meant that their pieces were unique. I ordered a size medium for this dress and it fit perfect! This white dress is perfect for any brides to be and could be used for any bridal event such as bridal shower, dress rehearsal, engagement photoshoot, engagement party, or simply for the summer! Also, I must add that I get a lot of things mailed to me, but Tobi is by far one of the fastest delivery I’ve ever had. If you have been following me on Instagram or facebook then you have seen some other items I received from Tobi company. I love them all!
Okay, I pretty much made this blog post a little longer than I thought, LOL, oops, but I hope I have covered some of your questions you had in regards to my wedding plans and of course this little white dress. As always don’t forget to Pin my post or comment below! You all don’t know how much I enjoy reading your comments and interacting. It makes me feel better and I don’t feel like I’m talking to myself lol.
