In honor of World Book Day, I had the opportunity to partner with Kendra Scott in McAllen Texas yesterday to donate books and bring awareness to literacy! In many low-income communities, there is only one book for every 300 children. The lack of resources and books can impact a child’s education and most importantly literacy skills. Also, did you know that 1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read? Literacy is a critical element in developing 21st century leaders. A literate community is an active community that exchanges ideas, engages in dialogue, and is productive in making changes for the in betterment of our society. Talking, teaching and sharing the importance of literacy skills is one way to influence others the unlimited opportunities we can create for our communities when we read.
Moreover, I want to thank the staff and marketing director from Kendra Scott in McAllen for inviting me to host World Book Day! It truly was a fun experience and everyone there is incredibly sweet! I also want to thank my family, friends, and co-workers who made some time to stop by to donate a book and shop! Your presence was truly appreciated! I had a great time shopping, reading to children, and sharing my favorite Kendra Scott pieces with others! If you didn’t get a chance to stop by yesterday, you have you until April 27, 2019 to donate a book and receive 15% off your purchase. Also, for any of my fellow educators if you show them your work ID card you can also receive a 15% off your purchase!
Below you will find several Kendra Scott items that I either purchased or absolutely loved! Let me know which ones are your favorite!
I love their bridal collection, they have several elegant pieces that I think any bride would love to wear on their big day. My mother-in-law purchased the drop earrings (second item) for my wedding and I just absolutely love them.
God Bless You Always!
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
