June 9 marked 365 days of love for Michael and I. We can’t believe how quickly the year went by. It literally feels like our wedding was just a few months ago, celebrating and dancing the night away. That day will be one of my favorite memories of all time and we were so glad that many of our family and friends came out to celebrate this day with us. Our Wedding details and highlight video can be found here. Anyway, many have asked, “how was our first year?” Therefore today, I thought I share an update on our first year.
For those of you that are new to my page, Michael comes from a primary male home (two brothers) and I come from a primary female home (three sisters). Talk about major adapting and change. Lol. We bought our first brand new home back in April of 2018, two months before our wedding, but we decided to wait to move in with each other until our wedding. I have always loved the idea of making many first memories together as a married couple. Although many people did warn us it was going to be tough, Michael and I entrusted in God and with God we promised to figure out the whole living and adapting together. I can’t say it was breeze, nor will I say that every day was full of smiles and laughter, but, I can say that every day was filled with either adjustments, compromise and love.
Our First Year
States and Countries, we stepped foot on:
Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Movies we’ve seen & recommend
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. A Star is Born. The Upside.
Shows we watched and recommend:
Ozark, Narcos, Game of Thrones, The Ranch, Chernobyl, and The Punisher
Things We did:
We celebrated our Honeymoon in Punta Cana, DR. Had our first horseback ride together. Michael caught the flu, but I took care of him and made homemade Caldo de pollo for the first time. We become first time Uncle and Aunt to my nephew Justice. We moved into our first new home and Koby has already marked his territory. Michael wasn’t so happy about that. Michael finally sold his college truck, and I started a new position at a new campus. We took our first winter trip to Lake Tahoe with our in-laws and brothers. I survived our first football season as a football wife. He survived the year as a blogger husband.
Things we haven’t done:
Taken a cooking class together, gone for a picnic, nor bike ride. Haven’t finished decorating and furnishing the house, slowly but surely! We haven’t gone camping, but will soon, God willing. We haven’t hosted a holiday event or BBQ . We haven’t gone to a George Strait concert, Rodeo in Houston, or Dallas Cowboy game together.
Pet Peeves:
Michael hates that I comb my hair and my hair falls out. He doesn’t understand that women naturally shed. Haha! It irks me when Michael leaves all his stuff on the kitchen island and says, “ I am taking it in the morning so what does it matter?” Ugh, it so does. Lol.
Funny Story:
Michael had never seen a faja (body shaper) and asked me why I was wearing it. Lol, so I explained to him that it is meant to keep it all together. Lol.
Favorite mid-night snacks:
Oreo Cookies, Oreo blizzard, munchies, and peanut butter jelly sandwiches.
Restaurants we love:
Salt Grass, Pappadeaux , Mamma Mia’s, The Grill, and The Republic.
God Bless You Always!
♥ Robin
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Wow that is kind of crazy he comes from an all male siblings and you all female. I can imagine yes that there would be a bit of a learning curve. Sounds like you did a lot this year and pet peeves…yes we all have them. And I think mens hair sheds too but b/c they were it short you do not see it as much.
