As if getting pregnant and being pregnant isn’t scary and uncertain to begin with, especially with your first child. Now to add the stress and anxiety of uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic. But here’s the thing. God has always been in control, with or without the pandemic. I refuse to let fear steal my joy in bringing my son into a world that right now I am not certain of. But is life ever certain? Do the plans we make for ourselves, ever our plans? No. The truth is that God already knows what tomorrow brings. This is why I solely rest in the hope and faith that God will get us through this pandemic.
Now let me be completely honest and vulnerable right now. Because of the new regulations that many hospitals have been putting, Yes, I’m sad that my husband may no longer be able to see ultrasounds with me as I check up on our son’s growth and development. Yes, I’m scared that my mom will not be in the delivery room with me. My mother has always comforted me through my worst times and I’m so nervous thinking about the fact that I won’t be able to hold her hand or feel her protection. I’m concerned that if I have to get a C-section my husband won’t be allowed to be with me and that I will feel so alone. I’m bummed because I might not have, which more than likely will not happen due to the current social distancing regulations, my first baby shower for my son and I’ll miss out on those little celebrations that every mother looks forward to. I’m worried that the world we once knew won’t be the same and now I have my son to protect. Maybe some things I’m worried about won’t even happen. Maybe things will get worse, or maybe things will get better. With all these concerns in the back of my head, my trust is in God, because I know no matter what I face God will be by my side.
The true beauty of this journey has always been about giving birth to a healthy and strong baby. Sometimes we get so lost with all the noise that comes with becoming a first time mom, but this pandemic has certainly made me realize how selfish we can be sometimes and lose track of what truly matters. So if any mommas out there are going through a similar situation especially first time moms like myself, I would like to offer my prayer to you.
Pregnancy Prayer during Pandemic
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for choosing me to carry my child through this pandemic. I know that you give your toughest battles to your strongest soldiers, and I am your soldier. You arm me with strength, love, and courage to get my baby and I through difficult times.
Please help me calm my heart and emotions when I feel overwhelmed. Help me to find peace that I am not in control and that your plans for my child and I, are far much better than mine. I pray that you fill my heart with hope instead of fear. I pray that you project my child in my womb from any harm and illnesses. Please help me to focus on the good of this journey and that our minds are not set on worldly things, but rather on your word and love.
Help me to be patient as I prepare for the arrival of my child. I pray for my husband, that he may feel spiritually and mentally connected with my child and I. I pray that he understands any emotions I may have and that he is patient and supporting. When it is time to deliver, please be close to me and my baby and surround me with Your love and presence at birth. Help the labor to go smoothly and the birth to go just right. I pray that you protect and guide the hands of those who will help me get through my labor.
You God are great and most powerful. I know that if I have any worries that you will gladly take them off my hands and provide me with peace and comfort. I know that when I pray to you, you will exalt any fear I have about this pregnancy journey, and fill it with joy. Thank you God for hearing me, protecting us and loving us.
I ask this in your name, AMEN.
Mommas you are not alone. We are in this together and we will get through this in JESUS name!

Thank you so much for this. Sitting in the parking lot at my obgyn alone because my husband can’t come to these and trying to praise God through this storm. It means so much knowing there are other mammas out there in the same boat. God is still good through this pandemic and we have these beautiful kiddos safe in our wombs. Praying for you too.
